Fani Talukdar-Brief Life Sketch
Fani Talukdar (1921-1996) was an accomplished writer, journalist, playwright, translator and film director of Assam. He was born in Barpeta. In 1938, he passed the entrance examination from Barpeta Government High School and obtained his B.Sc. from Cotton College. He took M A in English from Lucknow University.Â
He started his career as an executive at the Shillong-Guwahati Radio centre. He retired from the post in 1985. He was also a skilled editor and edited Dainik Assam, Assam Bani, Agragati, Navdoot and Sapthahik Samay.
His published books are— Alokar Yatri, Prithivir Prem Aru Pramathesh Baruah. He also translated some books from Bengali, Hindi and English into Assamese. His translated books are – Asampurna, Pratham Raja and Aghari Avtara. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Translation Award’ for his ‘Aaghari Avatar’. He was also the Head of Jyoti Chitraban and the President of Assam Natya Sanmilan.
