Nirmalprabha Bardoloi-Brief Life Sketch
Nirmalaprabha Baradoloi (1933-2004) was an Assamese poet, lyricist and research scholar. She was born in Shivsagar. She took B.A. from Sandikai College and M.A. from Guwahati University. After completing his education, she started her career as a lecturer at B Baruah College, Guwahati and then became a Professor at the Assamese Department of Guwahati University. She retired as a Jawaharlal Nehru Professor from this university.
Nirmal Prabha Bardoloi started her literary career in the field of poetry. Her first book of poems was ‘Bon Firingar Jui’. His other books of poetry are – ‘Dinar Pachat Din’, Samipekhu’, ‘Antaranga’, and ‘Sudirgha Din Aru Ritu’. She was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award for his poetry book ‘Sudirgha Din Aru Rati’. She was also skill-handed in composing songs. ‘Sonbaraniya Aai’ and ‘Suriya Mat’ are her two books of songs. ‘Devi, Siva and Surya’ is her notable research book. He presided over the 1991 session of the Assam Sahitya Sabha.
