Hemant Kumar Sarma-Brief Life Sketch
Hemant Kumar Sarma (1932-1992) was a devotee of Assamese culture, prolific prose writer, critic and researcher. He was born in Piplibari village, Nalbari. He passed M A in Assamese and went on to teach in the Assamese department, Cotton College. Hemant Kumar Sarma was involved in Assam Sahitya Sabha, Assam Janakristi Samaj and various cultural institutes. Dr. Hemant Kumar Sharma had written and edited more than twenty books. His most notable books are- Asomiya Sahityar Dristipat, Asomiya Sahityar Rengani, Sahitya Bichitra, Saityar Jeoti, Kaverir Pare Pare, Smritir Palash, Sei Maladari, Rakhi Bandhan, Sandhyarag, Jivni Saurav etc. He also compiled and edited some books as Kamrupi Lok Geet Sangrah, Kingvadantir Sadu, Asomiya Lokageeti Sanchayana etc.
