Keshav Mahanta-Brief Life Sketch
Keshav Mahanta (1926-2006) was an Assamese progressive poet and lyricist. He started his career as a teacher at Jamugurihat High School and retired as a publishing official of Guwahati University. His first book of poetry was ‘Amar Prithivi’. His other poetry books are – ‘Agantuk, Tomar Tej, Mour Sukan Kalijat Kunhipat, Rod Chikimiki, Kunwali Antari Ja, Dish Dawali Baran’, and ‘Bukut Ajak Dhumuha’. His ‘Mor Je Kiman Hempah’ is a collection of lyrics. Keshav Mohanta received the Sahitya Akademi Award for this book. He also wrote children’s literature. ‘Omala Ghar’ and ‘Maa Ami Sadiyaloi Jamei’ are his two books for children.
