Adam Smith-Brief Life Sketch

Adam Smith was an economist and philosopher. He is known as the ‘Father of Political Economy’. He was born on June 5, 1723. He was educated at the University of Glasgow and Oxford. After completing his education, he began his career as a professor of logic at the University of Glasgow in 1751. In 1752, he became a professor of ethics at the same university. Adam Smith’s ‘Theory of Moral Sentiments’ was published in 1759. This book brought him international fame. Adam Smith moved to London on the 1776 and wrote a book entitled ‘An Inquiry into Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations’. This is one of the most important books in the field of political economy. For this book he is hailed as the ‘Father of Political Economy’ In 1778, he was appointed to the Scottish Commissioner of Customs and held that post until his death.
