Tirthanath Sharma-Brief Life Sketch
Tirthanath Sharma (1911-1986) was a prominent Assamese educationist, story-teller, poet and essayist. He was a professor by profession and the founding principal of Pragjyotish College, Guwahati. He made various contributions to the world of Assamese literature. His books on various subjects and topics are—Mahatmar Bani, Sikhya Sar, Panchapushpa, Vaktibad, Auniati Satrar Buranji, Jhanjir Rani, Benudhar Sarmar Jibni etc. The books that he compiled and edited are Praveshiksha Kotha Chaneki, Sahitya Sangraha and Chaneki Path. He also wrote a book of poetry entitled ‘Kamsendur’. He wrote some short stories under pseudonyms. Tirthanath Sharma was the President of the Makum Session of the Assam Sahitya Sabha (1971).
