Humayun Ahmed | Brief Biography

Humayun Ahmed was a Bangladeshi writer, playwright, screenwriter, and filmmaker. He was born on November 13, 1948, in Kutubpur, Mymensingh, East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). He was one of the most successful and popular authors in Bangladesh, known for his works in Bengali literature and drama.

Ahmed studied chemistry at Dhaka University and went on to receive a Ph.D. in the same subject from the University of Berlin. After returning to Bangladesh, he taught chemistry at Dhaka University for several years.

In 1972, Ahmed made his literary debut with the novel “Nondito Noroke,” which was an instant success. The novel was followed by a series of others, including “Aaj Ami Kothao Jabo Naa,” “Shonkhonil Karagar,” and “Misir Ali Unsolved.” He is best known for his popular series of novels about the fictional detective Misir Ali, which have been widely read and adapted for television in Bangladesh.

Ahmed’s writing style was characterized by his ability to blend elements of magic realism, comedy, and social commentary in his stories. He often tackled serious issues such as poverty, corruption, and injustice in Bangladesh, while also weaving in elements of humor and fantasy.

In addition to his novels, Ahmed was also a prolific playwright and screenwriter. He wrote and directed several films, including “Aguner Poroshmoni,” which won the National Film Award for Best Film in 1994. He was also the founder of the television production company Nagna Putul Ltd., which produced many popular dramas and serials in Bangladesh.

Humayun Ahmed passed away on July 19, 2012, at the age of 63. His death was mourned by millions of fans in Bangladesh and around the world. 0 0 0.
