Amritbhushan Dev Adhikari-Brief Life Sketch
Amritbhushan Dev Adhikari (1858-1944) was an Assamese writer and social activist. He was born in 1858 in Dalgaon, Goalpara. His father’s name was Kanthabhushan Dev and his mother’s name was Akashilata Devi. Although he could not complete his education due to financial constraints, he started his career as a teacher in Jorhat and retired after teaching in various places. He was a regular contributor to ‘Banhi’ and ‘Awahan’. His published book is: ‘Srimadvanamghosa’. In addition to this, he wrote ‘Bhakti Ratnavali’. He was instrumental in preserving the language, culture and heritage of Gopalpara district. He became the President of Assam Sahitya Sabha in 1923.Â
