Stephen King | Brief Biography
Stephen King is an American author who has written many bestselling horror, supernatural fiction, suspense, science fiction, and fantasy novels. He was born on September 21, 1947, in Portland, Maine.
King started writing at an early age and had his first short story published in a magazine when he was just 17 years old. He studied English at the University of Maine, where he met his future wife, Tabitha Spruce. After graduation, he worked as a teacher and wrote in his spare time before publishing his first novel, “Carrie,” in 1974.
“Carrie” was a huge success and established King as a prominent figure in the horror genre. Over the next several decades, he wrote many bestselling books, including “The Shining,” “Salem’s Lot,” “The Stand,” “Misery,” “IT,” and “The Dark Tower” series.
King’s works often feature elements of the supernatural, with haunted houses, psychic powers, and evil forces being recurrent themes. He has a talent for creating suspenseful and frightening scenarios, and his writing style is characterized by vivid and descriptive language.
In addition to writing novels, King has also written short stories, non-fiction books, screenplays, and even a rock album. He has won numerous awards and honors, including the National Book Foundation’s Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters and the Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America.
King has been a prolific writer, publishing over 60 books and over 200 short stories. He continues to be one of his generation’s most widely-read and influential writers, and his works have been adapted into many successful films and TV shows.
