Sally Rooney is an Irish novelist and screenwriter born on December 17, 1991. She is best known for her critically acclaimed novels “Conversations with Friends” (2017) and “Normal People” (2018).

Rooney was raised in Castlebar, County Mayo, and attended Trinity College Dublin, where she studied English and Philosophy. She then went on to earn an MA in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia.

“Conversations with Friends” is a coming-of-age novel that explores the relationships and experiences of a group of university students in Dublin. The novel was widely praised for its honest and nuanced portrayal of contemporary relationships and received several awards and nominations, including the Costa First Novel Award.

“Normal People” is a love story that follows the relationship between two students, Marianne and Connell, over several years. The novel was a commercial and critical success and was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize.
