Liu Cixin is a Chinese science fiction writer who was born on June 23, 1963, in Yangquan, Shanxi, China. He is best known for his novel “The Three-Body Problem”, which won the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 2015, making him the first Asian author to win the award. Liu Cixin’s work has been translated into many languages, including English, and he has been widely praised for his imaginative and thought-provoking stories.

Liu Cixin grew up in a small town in northern China and was raised by his grandparents. He was interested in science fiction from a young age and began reading science fiction novels and magazines when he was just a child. Liu’s early influences included the works of Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, and Robert Heinlein.

In 1982, Liu graduated from the North China Institute of Water Conservancy and Electric Power and went on to work as an engineer in the power industry. During his time as an engineer, Liu began to write science fiction in his spare time. He had several short stories published in Chinese science fiction magazines, and in 2008, his novel “The Three-Body Problem” was published.

“The Three-Body Problem” is the first book in a trilogy that explores the relationship between humanity and an alien civilization. The novel was an instant success in China and won several awards, including the Galaxy Award for Best Novel. The novel has been translated into many languages, including English, and has been widely praised for its imaginative and thought-provoking storytelling.

In addition to “The Three-Body Problem”, Liu has written several other science fiction novels, including “The Dark Forest” and “Death’s End”. His work has been praised for its unique perspective on humanity and the universe, and for its thought-provoking examination of the role of technology and science in society.
