Kathleen Margaret | Brief Biography

Kathleen Margaret (“Kit”) Pearson is a Canadian children’s writer and teacher. She was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on January 1, 1940. Pearson is best known for her children’s books, which often focus on themes of friendship, family, and growing up.

Kathleen Margaret Pearson received a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of British Columbia in 1962 and taught elementary school in Vancouver for several years. During this time, she also began to write children’s books, which drew on her own experiences as a teacher and her observations of children’s relationships and emotions.

Kathleen Margaret Pearson‘s first book, “The Daring Game,” was published in 1988 and was a finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Award for Children’s Literature. Since then, she has published several more books, including “A Perfect Gentle Knight,” “The Sky is Falling,” and “The Whipping Boy.”

In addition to writing, Pearson has also been active in promoting children’s literature and literacy. She has served on the board of the Canadian Children’s Book Centre and has been a speaker at literary conferences and schools across Canada.

Pearson’s books have been widely praised for their engaging characters, vivid descriptions, and emotional depth.
