David Thompson (Sir John Sparrow David Thompson) (1845-1894) was a Canadian politician and the fourth Prime Minister of Canada, serving from December 5, 1892, to December 12, 1894. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and was educated at Saint Mary’s College.

David Thompson worked as a lawyer and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1878. He entered politics in 1880, winning a seat in the House of Commons as a member of the Conservative Party. He held several positions in the government, including Minister of Justice and Attorney General, before becoming Prime Minister in 1892.

As Prime Minister, David Thompson was known for his strong leadership and for his efforts to improve the country’s economy.
