Bhavananda Dutt-Brief Life Sketch
Bhavananda Dutt (1917-1959) was an Assamese progressive poet, literary critic, Marxist thinker, and educator. He was born in Ratanpur village of Kamarup. He graduated from Cotton College and then passed M A in Philosophy from the University of Calcutta in 1944. This was followed by a career in teaching at Nalbari College. He later served as a professor at Cotton College and then at Guwahati University.
Since his student life, he inclined to read and write. Some books written by him are: Rabindra Pratibha, Dristi Aru Darshan, Asomiya Kabitar Kahini, Asamar Jatiya Samasyar Bivartana, and ‘Philosophy of India’. His writings reflect Marxist ideology, the stigma of society, economic inequality between the rich and the poor and the pity of the exploited and oppressed. Â
