Stream-of-Consciousness Novel
Stream-of-Consciousness Novel
The stream-of-consciousness novel is a type of novel that has neither a definite plot nor abundant characters but a hero or a heroine who voyages through his or her consciousness and expresses his or her innermost thoughts which lie nearest to the unconsciousness. Consciousness is an amalgam of all that we have experienced and continues to experience. The stream-of-consciousness novel enjoys freedom from the rigid notions of time and space. In the stream-of-consciousness novel, the past merges in with the present, and the present rolls on to the future. It may be well defined as an Internal Monologue. Virginia wolf is a famous English novelist whose Mrs. Dalloway is a fine specimen of a stream-of-consciousness novel. D.H. Lawrence, James Joyce are some exemplary English stream-of-consciousness novelists. 0 0 0.
