Michael Chabon | Brief Biography

Michael Chabon is an American novelist and screenwriter. He was born on May 24, 1963 in Washington D.C. He was raised in Columbia, Maryland, and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature. He later attended the University of California, Irvine, where he earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing.

Chabon’s first book, “The Mysteries of Pittsburgh,” was published in 1988 and was a critical success. The novel was followed by “Wonder Boys” (1995), which was later adapted into a movie of the same name. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2001 for his novel “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay,” which is a historical fiction set in the world of comic books. The novel is widely regarded as one of the best works of Jewish-American literature.

Chabon’s other notable works include “Summerland” (2002), “Gentlemen of the Road” (2007), “The Yiddish Policemen’s Union” (2007), and “Telegraph Avenue” (2012). He has also written several short stories, essays, and articles, and has been published in several literary magazines, including The New Yorker and Harper’s.

In addition to his writing, Chabon is also known for his work as a screenwriter. He has written screenplays for several movies, including “John Carter” (2012), and has also written for television shows such as “Star Trek: Picard.” He has also served as a consultant for several television shows and movies.

Michael Chabon has been awarded several honors and awards for his writing, including the Nebula Award, the Hugo Award, and the Bram Stoker Award. He has also been a fellow at several prestigious institutions, including the MacDowell Colony and the American Academy in Berlin.

Chabon is married to the novelist Ayelet Waldman and they have four children together. They currently live in Berkeley, California.
