King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein

King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein has been the King of Jordan since 1999. He was born in Amman, Jordan on January 30, 1962. He is the eldest son of King Hussein and Queen Alia and the grandson of King Abdullah I, who founded the modern kingdom of Jordan.

King Abdullah II was educated in Jordan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. He attended St Edmund’s School in England and later earned a degree in engineering from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. After completing his education, he returned to Jordan and became actively involved in the military and political affairs of the country.

In 1993, King Hussein appointed King Abdullah II as Crown Prince and heir apparent to the throne. During this time, King Abdullah II worked to modernize the military and improve Jordan’s infrastructure. He also began to focus on economic and political reforms, with the goal of making Jordan a more open and democratic society.

When King Hussein died in 1999, King Abdullah II succeeded him as King of Jordan. He inherited a country that was facing significant political, economic, and security challenges. In the years that followed, King Abdullah II worked to address these challenges and to implement reforms that would help to build a strong, prosperous, and stable Jordan.

One of King Abdullah II’s major initiatives has been to promote economic growth and development. He has encouraged investment in Jordan’s infrastructure and has worked to create a more business-friendly environment. He has also focused on improving the quality of education and healthcare in Jordan and has worked to increase the participation of women and youth in the country’s political and economic life.

King Abdullah II has also been a key player in regional and international affairs. He has worked to promote peace and stability in the Middle East and has played a leading role in promoting cooperation and dialogue between Arab countries and the international community. He has also been an advocate for reforms in the Arab world and has encouraged the establishment of democratic institutions and the protection of human rights.

King Abdullah II has been recognized for his efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. In 2005, he was awarded the Ewald von Kleist Prize for his efforts to promote peace and understanding in the Middle East.
