Asvaghosa (Aswaghosa) was a Sanskrit poet, playwright and Buddhist philosopher who lived in the 1st or 2nd century CE. He is regarded as one of the great literary figures of ancient India and is best known for his works “Buddha-Carita” (The Life of the Buddha) and “Saundarananda” (The Beauty of Saundarananda).
