Harper graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1985 and later earned a Master of Arts degree in the same subject.

Harper entered politics in the early 1980s as a member of the Reform Party of Canada. In 1993, he became the party’s head of policy and research, and in 1997, he was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) representing Calgary Southwest. In 2002, Harper became the leader of the newly formed Conservative Party of Canada and led the party to win the 2006 federal election, forming a minority government.

As Prime Minister, Stephen Joseph Harper’s government focused on economic stability, national security, and improving relations with the United States. His government also implemented a number of measures aimed at reducing the federal budget deficit, cutting taxes, and promoting free trade. Harper also took a strong stance on law and order issues, increasing the powers of police and intelligence agencies and introducing tough-on-crime legislation.

In addition to his domestic policies, Stephen Joseph Harper was known for his foreign policy, particularly his strong support for Israel and opposition to Iran’s nuclear program.
