Eden Robinson | Brief Biography

Eden Robinson is a Canadian novelist and short-story writer. She was born in Kitamaat Village, Haisla Nation in British Columbia, Canada on March 10, 1968.

She received her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of British Columbia in 1993 and her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia in 1998.

Robinson’s literary career began with the publication of her short story collection “Traplines” in 1997. The book was well-received by both critics and readers and won several awards, including the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize and the Books in Canada First Novel Award.

In 2000, Robinson published her first novel, “Monkey Beach.” The novel was a finalist for several prestigious awards, including the Giller Prize and the Governor General’s Literary Award. It was also adapted into a film in 2020.

Eden Robinson has since published two more novels, “Blood Sports” (2007) and “Son of a Trickster” (2017), as well as a collection of essays, “Nobody Cries at Bingo” (2017).

Her works often explore the themes of indigenous identity, family relationships, and mental health, drawing on her own experiences growing up in a Haisla community.

Throughout her career, Eden Robinson has been recognized for her contributions to Canadian literature and was awarded the Canada Council for the Arts Prize for a mid-career writer in 2013.

Eden Robinson continues to write and publish, and her works have been translated into several languages. She currently resides in British Columbia. 0 0 0.
