M Ibrahim Ali-Brief Life Sketch

M Ibrahim Ali (1817-1975) was an educator and writer from Assam. He was born in Shingimari village near Chipajhar. His father’s name was Abid Ali and his mother’s name was Amina Khatun. He studied up to class VIII at Mangaldoi High School and then enrolled in Jorhat Normal School. Later on, he passed M. A. privately. His career was diverse. First, he became a teacher, then a school sub-inspector. He also served in the military.

M Ibrahim Ali was a prolific writer also and wrote poetry, biography, novel and children’s literature. His poetry books are Chahara (1948), Nistabadha and Bishad. His children’s novel, which won him the President’s Award, was Pari Kunwarir Deshat (1955). He also edited a magazine for children entitled ‘Kanchijon’.
