Bandita Phukan (1947-) is an Assamese writer for children. Professionally, he is an engineer. In addition to working for the Assam Gas Company, he worked, for two years, in the United States. He started his literary career by writing children’s literature. More than thirty of his children’s novels have been published so far. ‘Jayamati’ is his humorous book written in English. He was the first science fiction writer in North-east India.

Bandita Phukan received the ‘Assam Publishing Award’ for his book ‘Jumi, Reema and Sihat’. In 2011, he received the ‘Sahitya Akademi Award’ and the ‘Sahitya Award’ from the Government of Assam. 0 0 0
